I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise. 15 and I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.

— Romans 1:14-15

Paul felt he was a debtor to all mankind, because God entrusted him with the truth of the gospel.

There are many ways we can put ourselves in debt. The most familiar is when we borrow money from a bank and we are obligated to pay the money back with interest.

But Paul’s indebtedness is a different kind. If someone gives you money to give to someone else, then you are indebted in two ways. First, you are indebted to the person who gave you the money. Second, you are also indebted to the one who is to receive the money!

Paul felt he was a debtor to God for entrusting him with the Gospel, and he also felt indebted to all mankind to bring them this glorious message. There is forgiveness of Sin thru Jesus Christ!

The cure for man’s terminal disease (Sin) is the Gospel, and all one must do is to be saved is to believe it. But they need to hear it before they can believe it.
